WI-CARH TRAINING SESSION
WI-CARH's training session on June 23-24, 2008 at the Heidel House Resort in Green Lake, Wisconsin was a huge success with attendees obtaining a wealth of information from the 2-day program. Owners, managers, and property employees left this session with a better understanding whether or not their properties are in compliance. Rural Development presented a full day of training on Best Practices in multi-family housing along with additional training on workout plans for those properties that have struggled in the past. On the 2nd day, Fair Housing Solutions, LLC of Tuscaloosa, Alabama presented a full day of training on fair housing laws, applicant screening, accommodation and accessibility. Presented by Mark English and Scott P. Moore, Esq., this session also addressed Comprehensive Needs Assessments of properties as required by USDA/RD 3560 regulations. The Heidel House Resort was the perfect setting to enjoy a couple of relaxing and peaceful summer days with luncheons served outside on the terrace and great views of the lake and beautiful countryside.

WI-CARH 2007 ANNUAL CONFERENCE BIG SUCCESS
The Kalahari Resort & Convention Center was the venue for the WI-CARH 2007 Annual meeting and conference. The theme for the conference, "Rural Housing Moves Forward" celebrated our tenth year as an organization and being able to serve our members with an annual conference.
November 1 and 2 were packed with seminars and training sessions for all aspects of rural and affordable housing. Our conference got off to a great start with welcomes from WI-CARH President Mary Vinopal and USDA Rural Development Housing Director, Peter Kohnen. Our sessions included a case study of the 538 Guaranteed Rural Rental Housing Program used in Wisconsin for the first time, Identity Theft, Preservation issues, Landlord Tenant law and a Residential Lease Update from WI-CARH's counsel, Tim Radelet, as well as an update on the latest software and compliance issues from Duane Tinsley, President, Simply Computer Software. On Friday, Paul Rhodes, the Lead Customer Training Instructor for Home Depot Supply gave a half day training session on common safety and maintenance issues for managers. The training included practical tips and methods to deal with apartment complexes.
WI-CARH was honored to have William Shumaker of Premier Management as our special guest over lunch. Bill is the President of the national Council for Affordable and Rural Housing and provided his perspective on the national issues affecting the industry. The lunch also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the service, time and dedication of Mike Konicek, who served on the WI-CARH Board of Directors and as Treasurer for 6 years. Members overwhelming agreed in our conference survey that this was the best conference yet! Join us for the 2008 conference scheduled for November 6th and 7th in Wisconsin Dells. You do not want to miss it!
